Year Long Week

Hi!

This week was so busy! It literally felt like 3 weeks long, so much happened.

We had MLC on Wednesday where we focused a lot on exchanges and how we can get the most out of them! It was great! The next day we had zone conference, my last one :'). It was fun to see everyone and learn from the Chaverris! My companion and I gave a training on exchanges, how we all are gonna see an increased number of exchanges in the mission, and how we can get the most out of them.

After zone conference we got stranded by our Uber driver. We had some things with us and the guy was trying to get us to pay 200 pesos extra for the extra stuff we had, no way! We figured things out then we left the mission office and sat in traffic for such a long time, Santo Domingo traffic is the worst. After like 40 minutes in traffic, he pulled over and told us the ride originally said 50 minutes and it's been 50 minutes so he's gonna leave us there. ??? Because of the super heavy traffic, in 40 minutes we reached what would've taken 5 minutes without traffic. We were not far from the office at all. He was like don't worry guys, I know it'll damage my profile, but I'll cancel it so it doesn't charge you. Sike he actually charged us and because we didn't pay it like blocked us from ordering another Uber. We called the APs and it took like another 30 to have someone pick us up, and then 2 more hours to get home because of the traffic, but we made it!!

At zone conference Hermana Chaverri and the housing couple told us we all have to deep clean our houses and that's what we did this week! We're really good at cleaning our house but we have this untouched back room where missionaries in the past 2 years have just left all their stuff, and we finally cleaned it out and had sooooo much trash. We had a huge pile of trash next to the kitchen. Hermana Roper also found lizard skeletons on the top of our stove fan because it was so dirty. The house looks so much better now!!!!

There were also lightning storms all week! There was one time this week where if we would have left the house we were at 5 seconds earlier, I would've been struck by lightning. A huge strike of lightning and immediate crack of thunder happened like 15 feet away from me, my life flashed before my eyes.

My top 10:
10. Spiritual work works
9. God has a perfect plan, always
8. God truly is the same yesterday, today, and forever
7. Christ magnifies my efforts
6. How to have faith, hope, AND charity
5. A sense of urgency !!!

A theme Presidente Chaverri has had lately is this sense of urgency. The gospel is so joyful, there's no way we can just chill and keep this to ourselves, we have to let everyone else know! And let them know with excitement!! A couple months ago I was listening to a devotional by Elder Bednar where he was explaining that "This is the greatest season in the history of the restored church." It's so true!!! This is the best time ever to be part of the gathering of Israel. I feel so honored to be able to wear Christ's name on my chest and share His gospel with joy. This joy of sharing the gospel is accessible to all!! The need is urgent! I've learned so much about diligence while being here. Perry and I focused a lot the last 2 transfers on talking to EVERYONE. And man, I just can't pass someone without sharing a piece of this joy with them! It's so important to me! This mission is a very much go go go environment, my time of rhythm!! I've also learned how I can keep this sense of urgency going after my mission too, I'm so excited!

"3 Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human soul should perish; yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble." (Mosiah 28:3).

"24 Yea, and from that time even until now, I have labored without ceasing, that I might bring souls unto repentance; that I might bring them to taste of the exceeding joy of which I did taste; that they might also be born of God, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
25 Yea, and now behold, O my son, the Lord doth give me exceedingly great joy in the fruit of my labors;
26 For because of the word which he has imparted unto me, behold, many have been born of God, and have tasted as I have tasted, and have seen eye to eye as I have seen; therefore they do know of these things of which I have spoken, as I do know; and the knowledge which I have is of God." (Alma 36:24-26)

This is the most thrilling work on planet earth. I love it!
