Process Of Becoming

What's up

On Tuesday we had an exchange with the hermanas we live with and I love them! They are awesome! Then we had another exchange on Friday! Presidente Chaverri wants all the leaders to be doing 2 exchanges a week, so we've just been going from place to place!

We had another MLC on Friday to talk about how we can implement some of the things we learned in zone conference to the mission and a few other matters. It was great.

And WED GOT BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!!!!! It was awesome!!! He was so ready! Last week we taught him and asked him to pray about the Book of Mormon and he said "No I don't have to, I KNOW the Book of Mormon is true, it's like a key to the answer!" And then when we taught him about temples he was so fascinated and loved it. It was really tender. When he showed up on Saturday he had such a big smile on his face and was SO excited. He had such a big face of joy and relief when he came up from the water. It was such a happy day!!!!! He's the best.

My top 10:

7. Christ magnifies my efforts
6. How to have faith, hope, AND charity
5. A sense of urgency !!!
4. The gospel of Jesus Christ challenges us to become something

Here's where I got this from:
"It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions. The commandments, ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits required to be made in some heavenly account. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a plan that shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father desires us to become. ...
It is not even enough for us to be convinced of the gospel; we must act and think so that we are converted by it. In contrast to the institutions of the world, which teach us to know something, the gospel of Jesus Christ challenges us to become something." (Dallin H. Oaks, The Challenge to Become).

This point includes consecration, it includes repentance, it includes faith, it includes all the things basically. Before my mission I knew that I could become more and be like Jesus Christ, that I had a divine potential and through Him, could reach it. But being here on the mission has truly taught me HOW to do that. I have to truly repent! I have to truly set aside bad habits and replace them with good ones! I have to truly put in the effort to serve, love, be humble, patient, to be like Christ. It's more than just admiring the fact that it's possible, it's actually putting all those things in action. Practicing it. It's more than just going through the motions, it's not just reading the scriptures, attending church, praying, or accepting the commandments— it's so much more! It's feasting upon the words of Christ, worshipping Christ at church and worthily partaking of the sacrament, constant communion with God, and living the commandments. I'm still no perfect person and still have a lot I can do better, but I've truly become better while being here. I've become a more devoted disciple of Christ. I've learned how to be consecrated and how to truly repent. Through Jesus Christ and His gospel, He helps me become better day by day. I have truly developed a sincere desire and effort to emulate the Savior in every aspect of life. And it's so joyful! I invite you to ponder on how you can become more like Christ this week!
