24/7 Office Hours
What's up guys
I hope you all have had such a great week! This week was pretty good!
We have this friend named Alexander that we met through his inactive grandma. In our first lesson with him, we asked him if he wanted to follow Jesus Christ and be baptized and he said no, he does not have a desire to follow Jesus Christ right now. Dang bruh. But he had a desire to read the Book of Mormón though so we invited him to do that and come to church and he just didn't seem very excited to do either of those lol. His neighbor that's a member, brought him to church and we were so excited to see him there! After church he just still didn't seem very excited or into the gospel haha. But we just felt like we needed to keep visiting him!
We went back to visit him on Tuesday and had SUCH A GOOD LESSON. When we get there we ask him how church was on Sunday, and his grandma was like "oh my he LOVED it he came home on Sunday and just went on and on about how good it was and how much he liked it and wants to go back." We were like whoaaaaaa thanks for spilling the tea Tati. So awesome. Then we continued and had the best lesson ever, he read the pamphlet we left him the last time, and the chapter in the Book of Mormon too!!! The Spirit was so strong and at the end we asked him if he received an answer that all this was true, if he would follow Jesus Christ and be baptized in His church, and he said yes!!!! And like halfway through the lesson a church 15ft away was just BLASTING music, it was so hard to hear, but good thing the Spirit speaks to the heart, not just our ears, and he felt it! It was awesome to see that desire to follow Christ grow from 0 to 100 in just 2 lessons!
Sagrario this week was like hey can you guys come to my house earlier? I have some people I want you guys to pray for. Ok word Sagrario. We went and she took us to 2 houses, in which she basically bore testimony of the church haha she was like an angel and definitely brought them to my house and my life has changed since I've visited church! Like as if she has been a member forever! She's so awesome!!
We had to move Nestor's baptism date because he was having a hard time with some things but now he is SO set on getting baptized on the 22nd and says he will not let anything get in the way. Anytime we check up he's like heck no I do not want to push my baptism back any farther, lol. What a guy.
Had my last interview with Presidente Acosta before the new mission president gets here! I've learned so much from him and am so thankful to have been able to serve with him! It was so bittersweet, love that guy.
Also everyone in the mission got their own phone this week, instead of just having 1 per companionship, and at first it was a little iffy but holy the work has been so much easier haha. We get things done so much faster now it's the best. Kinda weird saying "my phone" now instead of "our phone" ha.
This week I read a talk called "Repentance" by Neal A. Maxwell that was soooo good. It's so good I'll include the link:
But here's something that stood out to me!
"In the anguishing process of repentance, we may sometimes feel God has deserted us. The reality is that our behavior has isolated us from Him. Thus, while we are turning away from evil but have not yet turned fully to God, we are especially vulnerable. Yet we must not give up, but, instead, reach out to God’s awaiting arm of mercy, which is outstretched “all the day long.” (Jacob 5:47; Jacob 6:4; 2 Ne. 28:32; Morm. 5:11.) Unlike us, God has no restrictive office hours."
Sometimes when we feel godly sorrow for sins we might feel like it might never end! In the time of divided discontent, it might seem like our potential selves seem out of reach. We all have so many things we need to work on and I've definitely felt the peace in my life when I rely on Christ and His mercy in those times of remorse for my sins. I'm no perfect person, very far from it, and sometimes it's hard for me to see how far away I am from being like Christ. But it's true! He has no restrictive office hours, and is there for us all the day long to help us in our desires towards happiness with Him. Developing Christlike attributes it's a lifelong thing, and I know that if we rely on Him for help, He'll help us! He helps me! He drags me out of despair and makes me feel whole. Never give up, and trust in Him! I know He's so anxious to help.
I love this work!!!! Love you guys!
