Got The Scenery Pics, No Robbers
Hola!
Wild week this week. I feel like so much happened it felt like a year long with all that went on this week there were just so many random things that happened everyday this week haha.
First I want to say that me and Hna. Perry did speak our cameras out and one day we snuck our phone out and got so many good greenery pics!! Check them out! The best thing is that we did not get robbed, a blessing!!
Me and Hna. Perry serves as STLs here in Villa Mella and we had exchanges this week! It's so cool to get to know the different hermanas in our zone! They're so awesome! I have no idea what I'm doing as an hermana lider lol but Hna. Aguilar is great and she killed it.
It rained SO MUCH this week. And of course neither I or Perry had umbrellas so we had to get pretty creative on how to avoid getting drenched. We still got dumped on but we picked up the Dominican hack of putting plastic bags over our heads and survived the gripe.
We rejoiced so much in church yesterday as we had our friends around us worshipping with us! It was joyous! Both Hermana Perry and I spoke! And we also brought a less active family with us! They said they felt at home as they returned back to church yesterday. I love this work!
We had some cool lessons this week! We are working with our friend Nestor from Venezuela who really wants to get baptized! He's got some vices to work through so we're trying to focus on those! After english class we had a lesson with him and there was also a self reliance class going on and we walked past the room they're having it in and he goes "Are they like us? Or like how I'm gonna be soon?" And I was like what? A member? And he said "yeah yeah a member! Are they like us?" Hahaha he's so silly and full of energy I can't even describe it.
I read a talk this week that talked about consecrating our performance. Consecration has taken on a whole new perspective while I've been here on the mission. Here's something I really liked from the talk:
"In pondering and pursuing consecration, understandably we tremble inwardly at what may be required. Yet the Lord has said consolingly, “My grace is sufficient for you” (D&C 17:8). ...
"Having our wills increasingly swallowed up by the will of the Father actually means an enhanced individuality, stretched and more capable of receiving “all that [God] hath” (D&C 84:38). Besides, how could we be entrusted with His “all” until our wills are much more like His? Nor could His “all” be fully appreciated by the partially committed.
"Frankly, it is our prospective selves we betray by holding back whatever the “part.” No need therefore to ask, “Lord, is it I?” (Matt. 26:22). Rather, let us inquire about our individual stumbling blocks, “Lord, is it this?” We may have known the answer for a long time and may need to resolve more than His response." ("Consecrate Thy Performance," Neal A. Maxwell, April 2002 General Conference)
Jesus Christ was the absolute example of full consecration. He knew His Father's will and He willingly obeyed. Every breath He gave was to glorify the Father and bring others unto Him. Sometimes that seems so out of reach! I know that the Lord really does have enough grace to help us overcome these stumbling blocks to help us to become our best selves! He loves us so much, and because He loves us so much He wants us to become better. Be more kind, more patient, and more concentrated on what really matters. There's nothing more thrilling than being engaged in the work of the Lord! I feel so blessed!
I invite you all to ask yourselves that question of "Lord, is it this?" To see what stumbling blocks are in your life, impeding you to access more of Christ's Atoning power in your life, and draw closer to Him. He can make weak things strong! He's that cool!
Love you guys so so much! Tell me what your summer plans are!
