Mwen Pale Avèk Tout Moun Nan Kreyòl

Hi!

Really good week this week. I feel really happy to be here.

We've been finding a lot of Haitians this week that are all super willing to come unto Christ. It's been kinda fun because Hermana Jean understands creole but can't speak it very well, while I can speak creole but can't understand it very well. A dynamic duo. So we've been getting a lot of creole practice this week! And not only that but our Haitian friends came to church yesterday and the member who is also Haitian just gave them the warmest welcome and it made our hearts so happy :,). Everyone was also really nice to them which I was just so thankful to see because sometimes heavy discrimination takes place in this country... but everyone was awesome yesterday! Neither of them really speak Spanish very well but they said they enjoyed it and would come back next week! I was sitting next to our friend Ralph and he only speaks english and creole, very little spanish, and I was explaining the sacrament to him and he said "I would like to come every week now" :,). *sobs*. How tender is that?? And then Ralph, not having previously known any of our other Haitian friends, took them home in his car!!! It was literally so awesome, now they're friends and it just melted my heart.

Another really tender moment at church was with our friend Flor! First of all, a goal this week has been to have my companion invite our friends to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized, and she invited Flor and she accepted a date!! How awesome! We had previously made a plan with Flor to go to her house before church and walk together. We have church at 9am and we got to her house at 8am to head over. We left her house at 8:55am. She was having some cold feet about going to church but she finally decided to come! Luckily she lives super close to the church so we were just barelyyyy late oops haha. At the end of church she was telling all the members that she was super happy that we came and got her to come to church because she loved it and feels really happy to be getting baptized soon! How tender is that. Church was just really awesome and cute yesterday, I loved it.

Yesterday we also spoke in church! I spoke about the Atonement and how it's directly related to the doctrine of Christ. I love the doctrine of Christ! It's my purpose as a missionary but also a member's purpose as a member haha. The doctrine of Christ is ongoing. We all need to exercise faith daily, repent daily, make and keep covenants, and endure to the end. That's an ongoing, forever, thing! And we have to share that with others! I'm very thankful to be here to be able to share that with others! That is literally why Christ came!

I love Easter! I love Christ! He is risen! Because He lives, we have hope. That's the best thing ever. Hope. We can have it because of Him!

Love you guys!!

-Did you guys know that Christopher Columbus actually came to the DR before anywhere else? Maybe I'm just dumb but I swear I've been taught my whole life that it was Florida. But anyways we went to a museum today about that and it was so cool!!! So this is me at the museum
