It's True! When One Door Closes, Another One Does Open!
‼ Long email alert ‼ but stay tuned it's kinda fun
Hey guys!! Great week this week
Something I've learned these past couple weeks is that when you pray for a certain miracle, God hears, and answers, and might provide something completely different than you expected, but it's nevertheless a miracle!! Here's why:
Last weekend we fasted and prayed for a miracle, specifically we fasted and prayed for our friend Diony to be able to have this desire to follow the steps of Christ. And we did everything in our power, we prepared so well, brought solid members to every lesson, and nothing. We were kinda bummed because we know he's so ready, but God knows when will be best for him. So then on Sunday immediately after Diony leaves church, that's when we got the okay from the bishop for Shanella! Honestly in that exact moment it seemed like the baptism might not happen on Saturday. Some members were saying the day is too jam packed, it's gonna be hard to have support if we have it on Saturday, but that's the only day her brother can do it! We tried to bargain with him for Friday but he said he has a really strict work schedule and his bosses would never let him have a day off or change his schedule, so Saturday was the only option. So we left church hopeful but also at the same time trying to scramble for ideas on how we can squeeze in this baptism because transfers would be the next week and I might've been leaving!! We called the bishop and he still gave us the ok and the primary president said she'd come support, but Shanella's mom didn't know if there'd be time. So the initial hopefulness seemed a little far but we were still determined to find a way.
Then on Tuesday morning, Shanella's mom called us and said Hermanas let's move the baptism to (and when she said that I thought she was gonna say like the NEXT Saturday and I was so sad, but sike she said...) Friday because they changed my son's work schedule (that he told us would NEVER be able to change!!!!) and he can do it on Friday now!! YAY WE WERE OVER THE MOON. We were like yes of course!!! And that's exactly what happened! We worked with our little bff Shanella and the ward and she got baptized on Friday!
Shanella is so adorable and we found out on Friday at the baptism that she's scared of water. She was in the water for 1 hour until someone else had to come in to baptize her and then she finally went completely under the water. It was such an interesting time. But we bought her a cake to celebrate and after being there for so long it was good to know that our little friend had just made her first covenant with our Heavenly Father.
God heard our pleas for a miracle with this area and although it wasn't with the person or the way we were expecting, it was just what we needed.
I'm staying here in Los Mameyes for another transfer and I'm gonna finish Hermana Jean's training! I'm excited, there's a lot of great potential in the area for this next transfer!
We have living prophets and apostles on the earth today that receive revelation for the world directly from God, and we get to hear from them THIS WEEKEND. I'm so beyond excited!! WATCH GENERAL CONFERENCE YOU WON'T REGRET IT I PROMISE!! Here's a cool quote from the Prophet from the last general conference:
"Overcoming the world is not an event that happens in a day or two. It happens over a lifetime as we repeatedly embrace the doctrine of Christ. We cultivate faith in Jesus Christ by repenting daily and keeping covenants that endow us with power. We stay on the covenant path and are blessed with spiritual strength, personal revelation, increasing faith, and the ministering of angels. Living the doctrine of Christ can produce the most powerful virtuous cycle, creating spiritual momentum in our lives."
Love you guys!! Reach out, let me know if there's anything I can do for you!!!
