Considering, Enduring, Becoming
Hi guys! ¡Feliz Navidad!
We have a friend that's progressing pretty slowly but super well. He's understanding more and more each time we go! I'm so excited to see him keep progressing!
I hope you all had a great Christmas! I'm so thankful for the birth of Jesus Christ! Truly because of Him, we can find enduring joy in this life. This week was full of a lot of Christmas messages, inviting our friends to focus on Him even more. It brought a nice spirit to this week! I'm so thankful for the Prince of Peace, He's the only constant in this ever moving world.
Christmas is a little hectic here, a lot of partying, so this weekend we had to stay home! We were able to go eat with some members and I got a lotttttt of study in and have just gotten to know my Savior even more. I've learned so much lately and my heart is so full!! I have so much to say but I'll keep it short!!
Lately I've been considering my ways. Everything that I've been reading lately has been bringing me down to the depths of humility, reminding me that I am just a mere beggar and I owe absolutely everything to the Lord. And I could be doing so much better!!!
The Sons of Mosiah give us a really good example on how to be consecrated, patient, give everything to the Lord, and then reap the blessings. The Lord made them a promise that as they were patient in long-suffering and afflictions, the Lord would make them an instrument in His hands unto the salvation of many souls. And they were faced with so. many. afflictions. But that didn't slow them down! They trusted in the Lord's promise, with the certainty that He never breaks His promises. So they (first) pushed forward and thennnn they saw the blessings. They gave their all, and then saw all the blessings unfold. They saw evidence that "God is mindful of every people (that includes you!!), whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is [Ammon's] joy, and [his] great thanksgiving; yea, and [he] will give thanks unto [his] God forever." (Alma 26:37)
As they endured and strengthened their faith in the Lord, that's how they got to know of a surety that God is there with them through everything. It's a cool thing about covenant relationship. Once we covenant, through Christ's authority, to follow Him, He is immediately more bound to help us in time of aid. The Sons of Mosiah kept their side of the promise (covenant) and "the Lord had granted unto them according to their prayers, and that he had also verified his word unto them in every particular" (Alma 25:17). The Lord keeps His promises!! Just try it and see. Follow the Lord's invitation to follow Him. Keep His commandments, keep your covenants, follow His prophets, and then wait and see the blessings come. That's the sure promise from God, that in time, the blessings will come. I know that not only because I've read the scriptures, but because I've applied them, and I've seen that in my life!
The Lord through His prophet invites us to become something better, become like Him. It doesn't matter where we are in life or what we're doing or what we've done, we can always, anytime in our life, take the step towards Him, for "his arm is extended to all people who will repent and believe on His name" (Alma 19:36). Become like Him this year, I promise there's just no greater joy.
I love you all so much! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I'd love to hear from you ALL!!
"talk to you next year!!" -Alejandro lol
