Relying On Prayer
Hey!
So this past week was interesting hahaha. We didn't actually get to our new area until Friday. They were redoing it to look nice for us, so we couldn't move in until then! We had a little zone service project cleaning it out before they painted it because Elders are pigs, so that was such a fun time there was so much trash and so many interesting things found haha. One of the fridges was so full of mold. But now it looks way better!! It's also been such an adjustment because I went from the most expensive house in the mission to well uh... not the most expensive house in the mission. Also on our first day here they redid the lock on one of the doors and it broke while we were insid. So we were locked in the house and the office elders had to come try to get us out and they couldn't, so then a neighbor had to come and power saw the lock off the door . It was a fun silly time.
But yeah!! We're covering 2 areas! Luckily both our wards meet in the same chapel and they are just the best! All the members were coming up to us telling us all about the investigators and offering to come out and teach with us!! They are so excited about missionary work it's so awesome! They're super helpful so I'm excited to work with them more and get the ball rolling here in these areas!
On Thursday we went to the temple!! I just love the temple, it's the best!! That trip was my saving grace hahaha I was literally going insane and getting out of the house and talking to all my mission friends was just what I needed!! I got to see the Hermanas I lived with again, yay!!! I love those women.
Also, crazy story. There I was at the temple just hiding from the rain and you'll never guess who I saw. JULIA WILKINSON. YEAH. How crazy is that??? She was there for hefy!!! Literally what are the odds. I love Julia so much, and I can't believe we ran into each other here in the DR!! I'm so happy I got to see her!!
This past week was the hardest I've had on my mission so far hahaha it's been a pretty tough week, but hey it's over and we got a full transfer ahead of us so hopefully it gets better hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha haha.
Spiritual Thought
2 Kings 18-19. Amazing. I love the story and application in these chapters!! Chapter 18 starts out with describing how awesome King Hezekiah is. He trusted in and clave to the Lord. He had a lot of faith!! But then comes in a Rab-shakeh, saying "What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?" The Rab-shakeh was attacking Hezekiah's faith, questioning how he could trust in God, and was trying to tell the people that they shouldn't believe Hezekiah when he says to trust in the Lord. That's hard!!! To have people attacking our faith, I mean as a missionary that happens a lot, but it also happened before my mission. Times like these are hard and confusing. The Rab-shakeh brought up some pretty valid points too, bringing up the history and just saying that no god whatsoever is present, no one has delivered the land out of the king of Assyria's hand. And this was hard for Hezekiah! But, I love what he did after!! He went to the house of the Lord, and prayed. 2 Kings 19:14-20 has this prayer and it's super good. In his prayer he brings up the Rab-shakeh's points, and then says: "Now therefore, O Lord our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God, even thou only." I mean Hezekiah is just pouring out his heart here!! I beseech thee, please save us!! And then Isaiah comes and says "Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard."
This is a long sorry but the points I want to get across are that 1) PRAYER IS SO POWERFUL!!!! I know that God hears our prayers, I promise He does!! I know because I've seen it, because I've felt it!! When people attack our faith, when we have questions, when we're confused, when we need comfort, go to God!!! Pray sincerely and tell Him whatever is on your heart. I promise He's eager to listen and eager to answer. He wants to hear what you have to say!! 2) Prophets are called of God!! Something I love from this story is that Hezekiah prayed to God, and received His answer through Isaiah, the Prophet. We have a living Prophet on this earth today, with the same power that prophets of old had! It's so special that we get to hear from our Prophet and the 12 Apostles twice a year at general conference. Prophets are God's voice on the earth today, and I've received some answers to my prayers through them! Sometimes we receive answers through other people. Trust God and that He has called His servants today. He wants to speak to you!! And a way he does that is through the Prophets.
Anyways sorry I just really experienced that this week and had to share. Thanks for tuning in!
LOVE U ALL!!
