We Baptized A Red Dot

Okay this week was actually insane!!!!

Our friend Luis who I said asks so many questions, is on date for this week now!!! The members in our ward are literally the best, a member of the bishopric has helped us soooo much to teach him, I'm so thankful for our ward!! I'm so excited for him, he's such a silly guy.

We had ward conference this Sunday and it was awesome! They had us do a "panel" last minute about references and baptism and we literally had zero clue what we were doing but we left the meeting with a reference from every member that was there!! We sang twice, with the young adults and with the youth. It was epic. We had tons of friends (18!!!!) at church yesterday it was so hectic. But such a good time. After church we went to a lesson and a member literally flashed us like it was nothing, I was trying so hard not to die laughing hahahaha.

A bummer from this week is that when we went to go teach this family we have on date they were literally hiding from us and had their neighbor come out and tell us not to come back. It was not the best time, I love their family the daughter seriously showed sooo much potential and was so interested. #sadday

Now the red dot situation: So a red dot is someone in our area book who does NOT want missionaries to contact them anymore, they are a do not contact person. Right before I got here, this 17 year old girl named Daniela became a red dot and sent the missionaries a long text saying how she didn't want them to share with her anymore, she liked her other church better and so on, she previously had a baptism date and stuff but just changed her mind. Then on my 2nd or 3rd Sunday here she came to church and Hermana Reategui was like our red dot is here??? She came with her family who are members! And she's been coming to church ever since, and all the mutual activities!!! So flash forward to this week, our ward is super ambitious and was itching to get a baptism because we have so many people that are ready!!! So at mutual our stellar bishopric member asked homegirl if she wanted to be baptized this week and she said yes!!!! We double checked with her so many times to make sure that she was okay with that and she said her only fear was the water lol. However, for the area book purposes, because she's a red dot, we have to teach everything all over again and start from scratch. And we asked her on Tuesday to be baptized on Saturday. The only day she could meet with us was on Friday! Luckily since she had been taught before, she knew a lot, so we just went over everything suuuuper briefly. We went over on Friday and taught literally every single lesson in just over an hour. And immediately after that she had her baptismal interview!! Then she got baptized this weekend! She is so amazing and has so much faith, we are so happy for her and so glad that everything worked out in such little time!! We prayed for miracles this week and we definitely got them :)).

Spiritual Thought:
I'm always so bewildered by people in the scriptures forgetting the Lord. The people of Israel had so many amazing experiences, were literally delivered from bondage by God, and always forgot His mercy. Laman and Lemuel saw an angel, had some other experiences, and kept forgetting the Lord. It blows my mind. In 1 Nephi 17:55 they say "We know of a surety that the Lord is with thee, for we know that it is the power of the Lord that has shaken us." They knew of a surety!! Then literally the next chapter they forget again and murmur and rebel against Nephi and the Lord. They rebelled, got humbled, repented, and then the cycle begins again. The good news of the gospel is that we have a merciful God who will ALWAYS be there for us when we come back, like He was with the people of Israel, and Laman and Lemuel. But how can we avoid forgetting the things of the Lord, the things we know of a surety, and going down that path? I invite you guys to think about that question and find ways that we can remember the Lord always!

Love you guys so much!!! I hope everyone's doing well! I'd love to hear from you guys!
