What Hermana Fraser Said

This is Ashlee's dad sending this sorry this is late oops

Hi!! How is everyone doing? Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you guys!!!

These past couple of weeks have been good!! I'm slowly but surely adjusting to life here in the DR. Alma Rosa is doing awesome! We have some great people and this week we found some more so I'm hopeful!!! Some bummers but it's all good!!

We had exchanges this week and I lead out my area which was terrifying for me but I didn't get lost too much!!! The exchange was a little frustrating but we found this sweet lady who isn't a member but just let us in and gave us dinner right on the spot so that made it better! She has so much faith so I'm excited to get to know her more!!

A couple weeks ago my dear friend Hermana Sally Fraser sent an email talking about gratitude filled eyes and I've really been trying to focus on that lately! The work is so much more worthwhile when I try to look for that. A lady We met this week seemed to have those gratitude-filled eyes when we stopped by and told her we could fulfill her desire to learn how to pray. It was special. We gave some of our friends in that huge group we're teaching and one had gratitude filled eyes when we gave him a Book of Mormon and he wrote a nice note on the inside. Every time someone spares some time to listen to us, I get gratitude filled eyes.

And last night I probably saw the most gratitude filled eyes I've ever seen. We have some Haitian friends that live in an abandoned construction zone with a bunch of other Haitians. We went to visit our friend Angelinè and her cute twin daughters and it was so tender. She let us into her little, compact, concrete wall home with just enough room to have a bed and a table right next to each other. She doesn't speak like any Spanish so we gave the most basic message in my broken basic Creole and with some help of Google translate. It was basic but so powerful. We shared Alma 26:37 (which is such a good scripture, God is mindful of you!!!!) And let her know God loves her. Usually her husband is there and he speaks Spanish and will translate for us but he is quite literally M.I.A., she has no idea where he is. Haitians have it really tough here so we're hoping with everything in us that he's okay and will make it back. It was the most humbling experience I've had so far. She seemed so grateful we were there. The Spirit was so strong.

Spiritual Thought:
Honestly before I came on the mission I sucked at following Come, Follow Me but I am dedicating myself to it and holy cow I've been missing out on so much!!! If you don't know, Come, Follow Me is the study program that the Church has each year and this year we're studying the Old Testament! It's so awesome. This past week we studied Numbers 11-14 & 20-24, and with the help of the Follow Him podcast I learned SO much!! Give those a read!!! I just want to say seriously with every fiber of my being that God. Loves. You. He loves you so much!!!!!!! No matter how far you think you've gone, you are never out of reach of God's love or too far gone from the reach of The Atonement of Jesus Christ. He is there for you and He can make you new. He can!!! You have to believe that! Believe not only in Christ, but Believe Christ when He says that He can redeem you, He can save you, because HE CAN!! If you're worried because maybe you're having a hard time with a sin and keep doing the same one over and over again, Don't worry!!! The children of Israel kept making the same mistake over and over and over again. And God was there for them over and over and over again. Realistically it should've taken them 11 days to reach the promised land and it took them 40 YEARS! It took them 40 years because that's how long they needed to become who God needed them to be. Jesus knows the process is long. He knows that. He knows how you feel. That's literally the reason why He suffered. He is with you every step of the way. If anything please just know that God and Jesus Christ have an infinite amount of perfect and individual love for you! Believe Christ and in Him!

Love you all!!
