Coming To U Live From Mexico
Hello everyone!!!
First I would just like to give the RM's and current missionaries a second to tell me "I told you so" because when everyone told me that missions were hard I like believed them but at the same time did the old classic "I'm different" and thought it wouldn't be that hard. However from this week and a half I have learned that missions can in fact be tough and I can't escape it and I am not different.
I made it to Mexico!! The trip here was SO LONG. Our flight got delayed 2 hours and we missed the whole first day, but I flew with my friend Elder Foggin so it was so nice to not travel alone!!
Anyways this week has been pretty good!!!! A little tough not gonna lie and our district (the elders) were beefin so it was a little interesting and our teachers made us do therapy but I think we've got things resolved now. It is SO weird for me to get used to constantly having someone around, sharing a room (with a loud sleeper still love her tho), and not being able to really have any alone time so that has definitely been an adjustment but I'm learning..
Other than that though I've been chillin. I've been learning a TON and my spanish has been improving. My brain hurts sometimes because I like can't understand some words and when I read the scriptures sometimes the words will just like not make sense so it's been rough but also sometimes I'll just say things and everyone says it makes sense. The best of both worlds. The best compliment I got this week was that when I spoke spanish this Hermana said it didn't even sound like I had a white accent.
I went to the temple today and it was so nice!!!!!!! It was so pretty and the visitors center was so cool. Other than that my days have just been breakfast, class, lunch, class, dinner, class, sleep, repeat. Kinda repetitive but in a good way. I really am learning a lot!! Yesterday though we broadcasted Provo's devotional and heard from Gary E. Stevenson and that was sooooo cool. It was just what I needed to hear!
Also I've been blessed to have some Americans in my district and I love them. Hermana Gutierrez is going to Boise, Idaho and she is my bestie I love her. She is from Texas and she is so epic. I'm so thankful I know her!! My other American bestie is Hermana White from Colorado and she's such a tender soul. I can't explain how relieving it is to be able to speak english to them hahahaha.
Spiritual Thought:
This week I got to study the Atonement of Jesus Christ because it was Easter this weekend (I love Easter!!!!!!) and I cannot express how much that means to me. In my farewell talk I talked about bottom line faith and what that might look like and seriously Jesus Christ and His Atonement is my bottom line faith. I testify that He really did die on the cross and suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane for you and for me and for literally every single person that has ever and will ever live on this earth. He died for the people we hate. Because He suffered for us, HE KNOWS how we feel. We learn from Alma 7:11-13 that He literally died so that He could know how to help us and empathize with us. I just don't know how I couldn't dedicate my life to someone who gave Their life for me. He is the most perfect example. I want to be like Him, teach like Him, love like Him, and walk with Him. I seriously testify that He loves you, He really does, no matter what!! There's so many things that don't make sense in this life and I wish I had the answer to every question I have or you have, but I know that He knows. One of my most favorite quotes is "I don't know. But I know He knows. And because I know He knows, I'm okay with not knowing right now." Christ died so that we could live. And He rose again, so that we could live forever.
The next time you hear from me I'll be in the DR!!!! I have a red eye so when I arrive it will be a little tough but I'm so pumped.
Love you all!! Send me your favorite color so I know you're alive. Mine is lavender!!!
Dios te ama!!
